I don’t have a website and I don’t know where to start?

Creating a new website is such a daunting task that can be quite overwhelming. Knowing what to include and what to leave really important.

The first thing you need to decide is what it is that you are going to showcase. And when I say showcase, I mean really show off your best!

Pick a hero. What product or service is your main focus. Don’t confuse your audience with lots of choice and waffle. Keep your site simple and on point. If you are a huge corporate entity then this is different, but for small business, focus on what you want to be the expert at!!

Your web site needs to be helpful for people. Make it easy for people to find out everything that they want to know about your business, so that they feel like they are familiar with you. Include frequently asked questions as pages or blog posts. If you make it easy for people to get to know your business, you will build trust with them. And Building trust is key. Don’t try to sell something right off the bat, no one likes to be sold anything. Instead educate and inform

Make sure that you brand all your online entities with consistency so it is easy to see who you are.

When you are first thinking about creating a website, don’t just go and buy a template and hope for the best. Ask yourself the following questions and then draw up a plan:

  • What is the branding that my business uses.?
  • What is it that I want to be known as an expert in?
  • What is it that I want my customers to know about my product/service?
  • What content do I have that I can put online?
  • What questions do my customers ask me all the time?

And finally, try to uncomplicate your web site. Don’t overcrowd the site with so much information that it is hard to find anything. Keep it simple. Keep it easy to find relevant information. And keep it easy for me to find out who you are and what you do.
