Today is the perfect day to start

Why do we wait, what do we fear, do we think it will become easier tomorrow?

Procrastination kills 90% of small business owners. You look longingly as to why others have more than you do or are further ahead its because they started. Its the culmination of lots of small steps done religiously without question that gets you to that point.

It all sounds great in theory, but what is holding you back.

There is a reason, I promise you, that you can’t take that step. For me personally it was always the fear of being judged, what if I am not good enough, don’t say the right things! By putting myself out there I would need to deal with the haters, and that was something that I wasn’t prepared to deal with.

Today I know that those that take their time to kill other people’s dreams do it because they are jealous. Over the years of working with small business owners I can probably explain a thousand reasons why they were afraid to start, from fear of success, fear of family beliefs, fear of attention, fear of not knowing enough, the list is really endless, so I mean it when I pose the question to you, what is stopping you? There is always a better time to do everything, but there is no better time than right now to write that blog post, plan your goals for the next week/month/year, no better time to clean out that draw in the kitchen.

Today is a fantastic day to start, I always found that once I motivated myself to start something, that I wondered why I made such a big deal out of it in the first place. You get a sense of relief when you complete that task. So with this in mind, start to take note of the patterns that you fall into when you start procrastinating, write a list of triggers or things that you use as excuses to stop you from starting on the projects. This is a great tool to help you to overcome the bad patterns that you have fallen into.

When you start to understand your mind you can start to implement new strategies, you could write yourself a little note reassuring you that once you start, you will be fine! You need to find what works for you, simply observing what others are doing and complaining will not help you to achieve. Working on yourself and the weaknesses in your toolbox will help you to achieve tenfold. Take the time today, you only have one life, one day, as corny as that sounds its true, you don’t know what will happen tomorrow so make today count. Make every day count!
